Hair Loss Treatment PRP

PRP (platelet-rich-plasma) therapy is a treatment for hair loss. It is one if the most popular non invasive hair loss treatments for men and women with a great success rate.

Platelet Rich plasmaTherapy

It is a three-step medical procedure during which a person’s blood is drawn, processed through a machine and then injected into the scalp, where the hair is thinning.

PRP injections stimulate natural hair growth which is then maintained by the increased blood supply to the hair follicle.

Platelets within blood plasma contain numerous growth factors. These growth factors produce an increased amount of collagen and stimulate dormant hair follicles, resulting in a wonderful full head of hair.

Consultation

Your consultation for plastic surgery with Mr Ferrando is an important step in the process of considering and undergoing cosmetic or reconstructive procedures.

This initial meeting allows the patient and surgeon to discuss goals, expectations, and potential outcomes, as well as evaluate the patient’s eligibility for the desired procedure. It will be an opportunity to ask questions or clarify any concerns that you may have. You will look at the “before and after” images of previous patients and get further information you need to make a decision.

Mr Ferrando will review your medical history and conduct a physical exam. He will then discuss all options suitable for you and explain each stage of the procedure or treatment. The exact procedure depends on the anatomy of the patient.

Our team believes that a well-informed, comfortable patient is one of the most important elements of the process. Whether you move forward with surgery or simply learn more, Dr Ferrando is looking forward to meeting you!

Procedure

PRP therapy for hair loss involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, which is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood components. The concentrated platelets are then injected into the scalp in areas where hair loss has occurred.

Anaesthesia and length of the procedure

PRP therapy for hair loss is typically performed in a medical office or clinic by Mr Ferrando. The procedure usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area and the number of injections required.

Recovery

The number of treatments required will depend on the extent of the hair loss and the patient’s individual response to the therapy. Typically, a series of three to six treatments is recommended, with each session spaced several weeks apart. Some patients may require additional treatments to achieve optimal results.

The recovery period after PRP therapy for hair loss is usually minimal, with most patients able to resume their normal activities immediately following the procedure. Some patients may experience mild discomfort or swelling at the injection site, which usually resolves within a few days.

Risks and Side Effects

All surgeries carry certain risks and even though they are rare you should be aware of them before making your decision. Mr Ferrando will talk you through any possible risks and side effects at his consultations as they will vary depending on the patient’s anatomy, age, condition and lifestyle.

During his procedures and treatments, he does everything possible to minimise the risk of complications by practicing a meticulously detailed approach and applying his world-class training background.
