Mini Abdominoplasty - Tummy Tuck

The Mini Tummy Tuck, also known as Mini Abdominoplasty removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen. It is a less invasive procedure, designed for contour problems without as much loose skin as the full Abdominoplasty.

Mini Abdominoplasty

A full Tummy Tuck improves both the upper and lower abdomen where as a Mini Tummy Tuck only improves the skin of the lower stomach area but does permit Liposuction and muscle tightening on the upper stomach to be performed at the same time.

The Mini Tummy Tuck has a smaller incision than the full Tummy Tuck, which is placed below the bikini line. It can be as small as 2 inches and the recovery time is shorter.

The Mini Tummy Tuck is a very popular option for women after pregnancy, seeking to return to their abdominal firmness. It helps to restore the physical appearance of the patient, but also restores self-confidence and self-esteem.

Mini Abdominoplasty for Women

Mini abdominoplasty, also known as a mini tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure designed to help women achieve a flatter, more toned abdominal area. It is a less invasive alternative to a full abdominoplasty…

Mini Abdominoplasty for Men

The procedure is similar to that for women, involving a small incision above the pubic area. The surgeon will remove any excess skin and fat and tighten the underlying muscles to create a smoother, more toned appearance.

Consultation

Your consultation for plastic surgery with Mr Ferrando is an important step in the process of considering and undergoing cosmetic or reconstructive procedures.

This initial meeting allows the patient and surgeon to discuss goals, expectations, and potential outcomes, as well as evaluate the patient’s eligibility for the desired procedure. It will be an opportunity to ask questions or clarify any concerns that you may have. You will look at the “before and after” images of previous patients and get further information you need to make a decision.

Mr Ferrando will review your medical history and conduct a physical exam. He will then discuss all options suitable for you and explain each stage of the procedure or treatment. The exact procedure depends on the anatomy of the patient.

Our team believes that a well-informed, comfortable patient is one of the most important elements of the process. Whether you move forward with surgery or simply learn more, Dr Ferrando is looking forward to meeting you!

Procedure

The Mini Tummy Tuck procedure is performed with a small horizontal incision in the lower abdomen within the bikini line, so it can be easily camouflaged in most bikinis, thongs and in low-rise jeans. The navel does not need to be separated from the skin. After the incision is made, underlying abdominal muscles are tightened and excess fat is removed. The remaining skin will then be pulled downwards and trimmed to create a firm and toned appearance of the abdomen. Mr Ferrando may insert a temporary thin drainage tube in the incision site, to remove excess fluids.

A light dressing will be applied and you may have to wear a compressive garment to support the healing process.

Anaesthesia and length of the procedure

The Surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic and takes 1 to 2 hours to complete.

Recovery

After the surgery, you may feel a little tender and sore. Mr Ferrando will provide you with pain relief medication to ease your discomfort. The drainage tubes will be removed before you leave the clinic but you may need to keep the dressing and compressive garment on for a few weeks.

It is very important to keep your knees bent when you are in bed to stop putting strain on your stitches as it will aid the recovery process. Some type of stitches are dissolvable and will disappear over time, whereas others will need to be removed 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.

You should feel much better 2-3 days after surgery, but patients are recommended to have at least 3-4 days off work to allow their body to rest and recover comfortably at home. Any strenuous exercise or activities should be avoided for at least 6 weeks after surgery.

Follow up appointments will be made for you after surgery, but if you have any questions, or you should feel unsure about anything, please contact Mr Ferrando and he will gladly talk to you. The well being of his patients is of utmost importance to him.

Risks and Side Effects

All surgeries carry certain risks and even though they are rare you should be aware of them before making your decision. Mr Ferrando will talk you through any possible risks and side effects at his consultations as they will vary depending on the patient’s anatomy, age, physical condition and lifestyle.

During his procedures and treatments, he does everything possible to minimise the risk of complications by practicing a meticulously detailed approach and applying his world-class training background.
