Photorejuvenation, also known as photofacial, is a fast, non invasive skin treatment that uses high-intensity pulses of broad spectrum light technology, to successfully treat a number of skin conditions at the cellular level.
IPL (Intense Pulse Light) and light emitting diode (LED) technology, can in fact, effectively treat photo ageing problems like sun-damaged skin, acne spots, rosacea, hyperpigmentation.
Photo rejuvenation, also known as photorejuvenation or photofacial, is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses light energy to improve the appearance of the skin.
It is a popular treatment for people who want to improve the tone and texture of their skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and minimize the appearance of age spots and sun damage.
Both IPL and LED technology, penetrate deep within the skin to encourage collagen production by stimulating dormant cells.
Photorejuvenation is a treatment that can be successfully used on almost any part of the body.
Your consultation for plastic surgery with Mr Ferrando is an important step in the process of considering and undergoing cosmetic or reconstructive procedures.
This initial meeting allows the patient and surgeon to discuss goals, expectations, and potential outcomes, as well as evaluate the patient’s eligibility for the desired procedure. It will be an opportunity to ask questions or clarify any concerns that you may have. You will look at the “before and after” images of previous patients and get further information you need to make a decision.
Mr Ferrando will review your medical history and conduct a physical exam. He will then discuss all options suitable for you and explain each stage of the procedure or treatment. The exact procedure depends on the anatomy of the patient.
Our team believes that a well-informed, comfortable patient is one of the most important elements of the process. Whether you move forward with surgery or simply learn more, Dr Ferrando is looking forward to meeting you!
During a photo rejuvenation treatment, the light energy is absorbed by the pigmented areas of the skin, such as age spots and sun damage. This causes the pigment to break down and eventually be absorbed by the body, leaving behind smoother, clearer skin.
The treatment also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which helps to plump up the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Photo rejuvenation is typically performed in a series of treatments, with each treatment lasting between 30 minutes to an hour.
The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of the skin issues being addressed, but most people require between three to six treatments to achieve optimal results. Treatments are usually spaced out every three to four weeks.
Anaesthesia and length of the procedure
Treatment is performed without anaesthetic, and the duration of the treatment is around 1 hour.
It is important to avoid direct sun exposure, self tanning creams and the use of tanning beds 4 weeks prior to Photorejuvenation treatment. This minimizes the risk for complications. It is also recommended that all clients use a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 in their daily regime.
Risks and Side Effects
All surgeries carry certain risks and even though they are rare you should be aware of them before making your decision. Mr Ferrando will talk you through any possible risks and side effects at his consultations as they will vary depending on the patient’s anatomy, age, physical condition and lifestyle.
During his procedures and treatments, he does everything possible to minimise the risk of complications by practicing a meticulously detailed approach and applying his world-class training background.
