Liposuction for Men
Liposuction is a surgical technique that improves the body’s shape and contour by removing excess fat from deposits located between the skin and muscle.
It’s the ideal procedure for men who have fat deposits which are inherited and cannot be lost through dieting or exercise. Liposuction aims to eradicate excessive stubborn fat from these hard to shift areas. It’s a sculpting procedure that can change the contours of your body and face. The most treated areas in Liposuction are face, chest, chin, arms and abdomen.
Liposuction involves the use of a small stainless steel tube which is connected to a powerful suction pump and inserted into the fat through small incisions in the skin. Fat removal is accomplished as the suction tube create tiny tunnels through the fatty layers. After surgery, these tiny tunnels collapse and result in an improved body contour.
Liposuction not only helps to restore the physical appearance of the patient, but also restores self-confidence and self-esteem.
Liposuction can be performed in more than one area, depending on the fat deposits to be removed.
Your consultation for plastic surgery with Mr Ferrando is an important step in the process of considering and undergoing cosmetic or reconstructive procedures.
This initial meeting allows the patient and surgeon to discuss goals, expectations, and potential outcomes, as well as evaluate the patient’s eligibility for the desired procedure. It will be an opportunity to ask questions or clarify any concerns that you may have. You will look at the “before and after” images of previous patients and get further information you need to make a decision.
Mr Ferrando will review your medical history and conduct a physical exam. He will then discuss all options suitable for you and explain each stage of the procedure or treatment. The exact procedure depends on the anatomy of the patient.
Our team believes that a well-informed, comfortable patient is one of the most important elements of the process. Whether you move forward with surgery or simply learn more, Dr Ferrando is looking forward to meeting you!
Mr Ferrando performs Liposuction using the Tumescent Technique which consists of injecting the fatty tissues with a large amount of anaesthetic liquid plus a medication which causes the blood vessels to constrict. The liquid causes the compartments of fat to become swollen and firm. The expanded fat compartments allow the liposuction tubes to travel smoothly beneath the skin breaking down fat cells which are then suctioned out with a vacuum pump or suction syringe.
The Tumescent Technique is a method that can reduce post operative bruising, swelling and pain. Blood loss is minimized and the Liposuction Procedure is more comfortable for the patient.
There are no incisions to be sutured after Liposuction. A compression garment may be applied to the treated area.
Anaesthesia and length of the procedure
It is usually performed under local anesthetic and takes 1 to 3 hours to complete
After the surgery, you may a little sore and experience bruising and swelling. Mr Ferrando will provide you pain relief medication and antibiotics to ease your discomfort.
You may need to wear the compressive garment for a few weeks to support the healing process. Adhesive bandages will be taken off 7-10 days after surgery. It is very important to walk around as soon as you can, to avoid the developing of blood clots.
You should feel much better 2-3 days after surgery, but patients are recommended to have at least 3-5 days off work to allow their body to rest and recover comfortably at home. Any strenuous exercise or activities should be avoided for at least 3-4 weeks after surgery.
Follow up appointments will be made for you after surgery, but if you have any unusual symptoms between visits, or any questions about what you can and can’t do , please contact Mr Ferrando and he will gladly talk to you. The well being of his patients is of utmost importance to him.You may need to wear the compressive garment for a few weeks to support the healing process.
