Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the thighs to improve the contour and appearance of the legs. The procedure is often performed in conjunction with other body contouring surgeries such as a tummy tuck or body lift.

Improve Contour and Appearance

A thigh lift can be an effective way to improve the contour and appearance of the legs by removing excess skin and fat.

Ideal candidates for a thigh lift are individuals who have lost a significant amount of weight or who have excess skin and fat on their thighs due to ageing or genetics. Candidates should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the results of the procedure.

Consultation

Your consultation for plastic surgery with Mr Ferrando is an important step in the process of considering and undergoing cosmetic or reconstructive procedures.

This initial meeting allows the patient and surgeon to discuss goals, expectations, and potential outcomes, as well as evaluate the patient’s eligibility for the desired procedure. It will be an opportunity to ask questions or clarify any concerns that you may have. You will look at the “before and after” images of previous patients and get further information you need to make a decision.

Mr Ferrando will review your medical history and conduct a physical exam. He will then discuss all options suitable for you and explain each stage of the procedure or treatment. The exact procedure depends on the anatomy of the patient.

Our team believes that a well-informed, comfortable patient is one of the most important elements of the process. Whether you move forward with surgery or simply learn more, Dr Ferrando is looking forward to meeting you!

Procedure

The thigh lift procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes between two to three hours to complete. There are different techniques used for thigh lift surgery, and the specific approach will depend on the patient’s individual needs and goals. The two most common techniques include: Medial thigh lift: This technique involves an incision made in the inner thigh, allowing the surgeon to remove excess skin and fat from the upper inner thigh area. Bilateral thigh lift: This technique involves an incision made along the upper thigh area, allowing the surgeon to remove excess skin and fat from the front and outer thigh areas.

Anaesthesia and length of the procedure

The operation is performed under general anaesthetic and normally takes around 2 to 3 hours to complete depending on the extent of the procedure. You will need to stay in the clinic overnight.

Recovery

After the surgery, patients will need to take some time off work to rest and recover. Pain and swelling are common after the surgery, but these can be managed with pain medication and compression garments. Patients should avoid strenuous activity for at least four to six weeks after the surgery, and should follow their surgeon’s instructions regarding post-operative care.

Risks and Side Effects

All surgeries carry certain risks and even though they are rare you should be aware of them before making your decision. Mr Ferrando will talk you through any possible risks and side effects at his consultations as they will vary depending on the patient’s anatomy, age, physical condition and lifestyle.

During his procedures and treatments, he does everything possible to minimise the risk of complications by practicing a meticulously detailed approach and applying his world-class training background.
